Hill scapes inspired by Courts and Greens in Bakersfield

Need an excuse to get out of town and escape the heat? With most of California getting scorched with triple digit temperatures this summer, you need an inexpensive escape for the day, and the cooler the better.

Why not find some NEARBY HIKING TRAILS?

Untamed California.com and Hikespeak.com are great resources for hikers from all walks of life (pun intended). From multi-mile mountain climbs that will challenge skilled hikers, to dog-friendly strolls with serene vistas, these sites have just about anything you’re looking for in a trail throughout California, with detailed instructions on how to get there and navigate the paths.

Get your feet wet in the Ortega Falls near Lake Elsinore, CA. Or maybe head West to San Luis Obispo County and climb Valencia Peak, with it’s breathtaking 1,347 ft. peak that overlooks the Pacific Ocean. You can search for trails under a variety of criteria, and other hikers often post pics and trail ratings, so you know what to expect and what you may want to avoid.

So get outside!

There’s a fascinating world out there just waiting to be witnessed, and for those of us blessed enough to live in such a beautiful state with unrivaled and diverse scenery, sometimes stepping off the basketball court or golf green (especially when you’re roasting from summer temps) and experiencing the feel of a cool ocean breeze or whiff of clean mountain air is exactly what you need.

Have you hiked any of these trails in California, or know of a good one? Let us know in the comments, and we’ll see you on the trails!
