Bocce ball (simply “bocce” in Italian) is a very old game, and as such has a host of rules, regulations, and variants. Traditionally played on natural soil courts 90 feet in length and 8 to 13 feet wide, the game requires teams or players to toss heavy balls so that they come to rest nearest a smaller “goal” ball. Bocce’s more popular than ever today, and it’s become a casual, family game. We’re not going to get into official league rules or technicalities – most people these days simply play bocce in their backyard or at the park, so that’s where we’ll focus.
